Smart Home Design & Pre-Wiring
Smart Homes Built Right From Day One
A smart home is more than a few gadgets added at the end. At Kingwell Fine Homes, we design and pre-wire your home so Wi-Fi, security, lighting, comfort and energy-saving features all work together — cleanly integrated, easy to use and ready for whatever comes next.
What Is a Smart Home?
A smart home uses internet-connected devices — like thermostats, lights, security cameras and door locks — to automate tasks and give you remote control of your home. Everything can be managed from your phone, tablet, computer or by voice through smart speakers and displays.
Done properly, a smart home doesn’t feel “techy” or complicated. It feels:
- More convenient – automate everyday routines like coming home, going to bed or leaving for the weekend.
- More efficient – control lighting and temperature based on schedules and occupancy to reduce wasted energy.
- More secure – see who’s at the door, check cameras, monitor doors and get alerts from anywhere.

How Kingwell Builds Smarter Homes
Our Smart home approach isn’t about filling your house with gadgets. It’s about planning the right infrastructure so your home is safe, efficient and future-ready.
1. Plan & Pre-Wire During Design
Every Kingwell Smart Home starts on paper. We map where you’ll want Wi-Fi coverage, TVs, access points, security devices, cameras and smart switches. Then we pre-wire Ethernet, low-voltage and power so the system is reliable and hidden inside the walls.
2. Build a Strong Network Backbone
A smart home is only as good as its network. We design for strong Wi-Fi and bandwidth throughout the home, often with hard-wired access points and a central network location so streaming, work-from-home and devices all stay responsive.
3. Integrate Smart Systems
We coordinate with your chosen technology partners to integrate lighting, thermostats, security, garage doors, water sensors and more. The goal: one clean, easy-to-use ecosystem instead of a messy pile of apps and visible conduits.
Smart Home Features We Commonly Plan For
- Structured wiring and network cabinet
- Hard-wired Wi-Fi access points for whole-home coverage
- Smart lighting circuits and dimmers
- Smart switches for exterior and soffit lighting
- Pre-wire for EV chargers and future power needs
- Smart thermostats and zoning for efficient comfort
- Pre-wire for security cameras and smart doorbells
- Flood, smoke and CO sensors integrated with alerts
- Smart door locks and garage controls
- Integrations that support our Net Zero and energy-efficient designs
Built for Today & Ready for Tomorrow
Technology changes quickly. That’s why we design conduits, extra wiring paths and flexible locations for hubs and panels. Your home can grow with new devices and platforms without tearing open finished walls or running surface wires later.
Working together early in the design stage, we can tailor your Smart Home package to your budget — from “future-ready” pre-wiring only, to fully integrated systems installed before move-in.
