Net Zero Homes

by Kingwell Fine Homes

We design and build high-performance Net Zero and Net Zero Ready homes that produce as much energy as they consume annually. Healthier indoor air, exceptional comfort, ultra-low utility costs, and long-term durability — without compromising luxury.

What Is a Net Zero Home?

A Net Zero Home is engineered so that, over the course of a year, it produces as much energy as it consumes. This starts with a dramatically more efficient building envelope and mechanical system — then adds on-site renewable energy, typically solar, to close the loop.

Compared to a typical new home, a well-designed Net Zero Home uses significantly less energy thanks to superior insulation, high-performance windows, airtight construction, and advanced heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. The remaining energy demand is met with clean electricity produced on site.

  • Comfort: Consistent temperatures, warm floors, and virtually no drafts.
  • Health: Fresh filtered air and reduced indoor pollutants.
  • Performance: Up to 80% more energy efficient than a typical new home.
  • Resilience: Better building science, durability, and long-term value.
  • Environment: Much lower operational carbon footprint.

Our Net Zero Building Approach

1. High-Performance Building Envelope

We start with a robust, well-insulated shell: continuous exterior insulation, advanced framing details, and high-performance windows. Airtight construction keeps conditioned air inside and outdoor air where it belongs.

2. Best-in-Class Mechanical Systems

Ultra-efficient heat pumps, right-sized ductwork, and balanced ventilation (HRV/ERV) deliver even temperatures and continuous fresh air. High-efficiency appliances and LED lighting further drive down energy use.

3. Solar-Ready or Solar-Powered

Homes are designed to be solar-ready or fully solar-equipped, so you can generate clean electricity on site. Together with the efficiency of the home, solar is what brings the home to Net Zero over the course of a year.

Built for Your Family — and the Future

We incorporate best practices from across the industry while remaining material-agnostic, choosing the right solutions for each individual home and site. The result is a custom home that balances design, performance, and long-term sustainability.

Net Zero Homes are more than an energy target. They’re about comfort, health, and a better daily living experience — quieter interiors, filtered air, consistent temperatures, and lower operating costs year after year.
